Internal code is 4L and this generation was produced until 2015, so it had quite a long production run. Audi was a bit late at the luxery SUV market. Back then BMW X5 and Mercedes ML where on the market already for a couple of years, and their success sparked Audi to come with an answer out of Ingolstadt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Buying Advice Audi Q7 (4L) 2006\u20132015 Common Issues Engines Inspection\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/X8iDQHXqyUQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As the top model next to the Audi A8, this Q7 had many engine choices, even the crazy 6 liter v12 TDI which made no sense but how cool that VAG still did this back in the day. There where actually only 2 petrol engines for sale and 5 diesel engines. So this car is suited for long motorway journeys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The facelift came in 2010 and offered more refinement in engines, interior and infotainment MMI capabilities. Another thing to mention is that this car is built on the PL71 platform and this platform is also the basis for the VW Touareg and the Porsche Cayenne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s focus now on the most important thing, reliability, that&#8217;s why you watch this video after all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There has been a recall for Q7&#8217;s that where made before July 2007 and this had to do with the trunk lit. The trunk lit could close automatically and off course this is not what you want. The fix was to change the trunk lit motor unit and update the software, so check if this recall has been done if you go for an early production model of the Q7<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even though the Q7 is not what you call an offroader, maybe it has been used by the previous owner in this way. So make sure you check the chassis and underneath the car for potential damages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then the sunroof can leak, just like the Cayenne the drainage channels might be clogged causing water to flow into the interior. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall this is a heavy car, so there will be more wear and tear and parts are expensive. Break pads, tires, rims, fuel economy in the high powered petrols. It will all cost more then a normal car so to speak. When you opt for the S-line version of the Q7, just test drive the car to see if you can live with the stiffness of the chassis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Engine wise there is not much to report, there are 6 different petrol engines both FSI and TFSI and as you  can expect the displacement is big to give the Q7 enough power. The diesel are the famous TDI engines with displacements starting at 3.0 liter v6 until the outrageous 6.0 liter v12 TDI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Diesels have the issue of the diesel injectors that can fail on you and replacement is expensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Petrol suffer from internal pollution and higher oil consumption, early petrol engines still faced the timing chain issues of the TFSI when introduced. There has been recalls and stronger chains available since then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lastly, service history is vital for these types of cars. Most preferably servicing should be done at the local audi dealer or someone that has experience with VAG products. Do not service it at your local garage and do not skip any mandatory servicing like changing oil and filters. Engines are quite reliable but they need servicing within the normal service intervals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hope this video was useful and if so subsribe to my channel for future videos.
